There may be better ways to create an org chart, but here is my way to making it on Tableau.
Steps 1-8: Follow My Way in Creating a Dendrogram
- Click on the above link to find out how to create the lines needed for this chart
- This tutorial uses these 2 tables from 2 separate Excel sheets but only uses the sheet named "Line" for the first 8 steps
- Do not start from 0 on the axes as the bar chart border will appear
Step 9: Import the Sheet Named "Node" and Create a Relationship Using "Height" and "Place"
Step 10: Drag Pills into Places
- Make the pills Continous Dimension
- Make the axes "Dual Axis"
- Synchronise the axes
- Have the pill "Place (Node)" be in front of "Place"
- Change the Marks Card to "Square"
- Adjust the Size to wrap around the words
Step 11: Make it a Dashboard
- Create a new dashboard
- Drag the sheet over
- Bring a floating blank title to cover the lines at the bottom
Step 12: Publish Your Org Chart!
